Job Advert

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic pharmacy support worker to join our cancer pharmacy team.  You will primarily work within dispensing and aseptic areas but will also gain experience in pharmacy stores and outpatient and ward areas. You will need to be flexible, organised, work well within a team and have a positive, ‘can do’ attitude.  You will be used to working in a busy challenging environment, be adaptable and willing to learn new skills. Previous pharmacy experience is essential. You will have excellent communication skills and have an NVQ2 qualification in pharmacy services or be working towards one. The post holder(s) will be required to participate in weekend and public holiday rotas.

The job will involve rotating through the dispensary and the pharmacy aseptic (sterile) unit, providing support to pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.  This will include dispensing chemotherapy and medicines for side effect management, stock control, co-ordinating medicines delivery, environmental monitoring, assembly and transfer of products for aseptic manufacture as well as administrative tasks.

Due to the critical and sensitive nature of our work you will be required to meet the highest standards of discipline and personal hygiene, whilst adhering to standard operating procedures and clean room behaviours. Full aseptic training will be provided.

We are a friendly, forward thinking team putting cancer patients at the heart of everything we do and would love to have you on board.

The duties of this post require the successful candidate to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.  More information on this scheme can be found at www.disclosurescotland.co.uk
