As part of a multidisciplinary team you will assist the registered nurse in providing the nursing care and resources required for neonatal, paediatric and adolescent patients undergoing a wide range of surgical interventions.  You will regularly work unsupervised.  You will carry out assigned tasks in delivering and supporting direct patient care under the direction of a registered nurse to ensure delivery of a high quality of patient care.  You will co-operate with and maintain good relationship with other disciplines that are attending and treating patients to maximise patient care.  You will communicate with members of the multidisciplinary team; ensuring information both written and verbal is relayed correctly and maintain good relationships and an empathic approach to patients, carers and relatives and refer them to a trained nurse for any questions they may have on the patient’s condition or for any suggestions or complaints that they may wish to raise.  You will assist with the movement and positioning of patients in the pre, intra & postoperative phase and assist with the transfer of patients from reception to theatre and back to recovery post operatively. You should have substantial experience working within a theatre environment. You should have knowledge and understanding of Hospital and departmental policies that affect day to day activities, e.g. Health & Safety, Moving & Handling, Infection Control, Environmental Cleanliness Standards, Monitoring Tools, Safety of Medical Gases, COSHH Regs, Fire Safety and Evacuation Training.  You should be able to demonstrate an ability to develop and maintain effective and efficient administrative, monitoring and recording systems and have an understanding of basic computer systems.
