This is a vacancy for band 5 community mental health nurse to work as part of the Older People's Community Mental Health Team in Renfrewshire. As part of a multi-disciplinary team within the context of a OPCMHT, you will have responsibility for the assessment of patient care needs and the development and evaluation of programmes of care. Under the supervision of Band 6 CPN's, you will liaise with hospital and primary care teams, social work and voluntary agencies, and assist to promote and develop comprehensive nursing interventions for a range of mental health problems. You will also support the Mental Health Services "Physical Healthcare Policy" for those clients living with severe mental illness. Participation in regular caseload supervision with a named Band 6 CPN will be a critical aspect of the role. Supervising the practice of, and demonstrating procedures to, student nurses and unqualified staff will be an important aspect of the role as will be the mentoring of nurses undergoing basic nurse training. The OPCMHT Service also systematically interfaces with Addictions Services, Adult community mental health and Learning Disability team. It is essential that you are currently a Registered Mental Health Nurse with the NMC and that you have possession of a range of interpersonal skills which facilitate engagement with patients with severe mental illness. You should have a current driving licence.
