MSK Out-patient Service, OPD 5 Royal Infirmary Edinburgh

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to lead our Upper Limb MSK Out-patient Service at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. This service has strong links with St John’s Hospital, Livingston, the Western General Hospital physiotherapy hand services and works closely with the Orthopaedic Service at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.  The service manages trauma and elective surgical and non-surgical upper limb patients.

The upper limb MSK out-patient service is integrated within the MSK out-patient service at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and the candidate will be expected to work closely with the MSK Out-patient Clinical Team Lead.

Candidates will have extensive evidence of the management of specialist hand conditions including splinting and wound management. You will display abilities to participate in in-service development to support a proactive team approach to the delivery of physiotherapy to this patient group; this will include providing training to the MDT.

Candidates must demonstrate effective leadership for the whole Upper limb therapy team comprising registered staff and physiotherapy support staff where their role interacts with the upper limb MSK out-patient service.

You will be involved in QI projects which will be local and pan-Lothian as part of the ongoing integration and development of the Hand Service in Lothian.

You will be expected to participate in the In-patient Orthopaedic Weekend Rota at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
