We have an exciting opportunity for a Genomics Assistant / Health Care Support Worker to join our team in a permanent full time role with shifts running 9.00am to 5.00pm.
The West of Scotland Regional Genetic Service serves a population of 2.6 million people. The 5 health board areas covered are Ayrshire, Dumfries and Galloway, Forth Valley, Greater Glasgow and Clyde and Lanarkshire. Referrals are managed by a team of Consultant Geneticists and Genetic Counsellors. In the department, there are NHS consultants in addition to an honorary consultant, a speciality doctor and specialist registrars. There are a number of genetic counsellors; a complex needs nurse, a clinic nurse and a research nurse.
If you join our team you will support the Clinical Genetics Service to provide an accessible, appropriate, safe, person centred and effective service for individuals referred to the Clinical Genetics Service by working in partnership with service users and clinicians referring individuals to our clinics. Your work will be facilitated, supervised and supported by the Nursing, Genetic Counsellor and medical staff and will be line managed by the Principal Genetic Counsellor Team Leader.
You will be required to be educated to SVQ Level 3 in Healthcare or equivalent experience. The successful candidate will be subject to a record check from Disclosure Scotland's PVG record check.
