Applications are welcome for the above permanent, full time (40 hours per week) (10 sessions, sessions are negotiable) post based in St John’s Hospital, Livingston.

This post is an integral part of the old age psychiatry service for Edinburgh and the Lothians, with services delivered by the four Lothianwide Health and Social Care Partnerships and Royal Edinburgh and Associated Services (REAS).

The posts represent an exciting opportunity to work as a consultant in a vibrant, rapidly developing and supportive service. Full personal mentorship and support is available to develop your career to the highest level. The core clinical components of the posts will be to provide an old age psychiatry service to a catchment population within a supportive multidisciplinary team structure. As a member of the NHS Lothian service, you will be strongly supported and encouraged to develop additional interests as part of your professional activity, which could include wider medical education, research, leadership and quality improvement activity to the highest level available in Scotland. Opportunities to obtain further experience across the wider Lothian service are often available and will be encouraged and facilitated according to individual circumstances and developmental needs

It is expected that this post will attract an initial maximum 9 DCC/1 PA split between direct clinical care and supporting wider professional activities, dependant both on the developmental needs and professional aspirations of the post-holder and the requirements of the Lothianwide service.  Consideration will be given to candidates who wish to work fewer than 10 sessions.
