Are you a Pharmacy Technician able to take on the challenge of managing the pharmacy dispensary within Ninewells?

If so an opportunity has arisen in Ninewells Hospital, a large teaching hospital in Dundee, which is Scotland’s fourth largest and sunniest city.  Known for its lively nightlife, shops and culture, Dundee has been rated by The Sunday Times in 2019 as the best place to live in Scotland. Within NHS Tayside hospital services, we have a proud history of developing roles for pharmacy technicians and an organisational structure that promotes Pharmacy Technician professional leadership.

As the dispensary manager, you will be responsible for managing the systems, processes, facilities and staff working in the dispensary. You will play a key role in staff training and competency assessment, supporting our dynamic team to dispense a variety of prescriptions in an effective and efficient way whilst responding to the competing priorities of a busy acute hospital pharmacy throughout each day. As part of the medicines supply chain team, you will build on existing good practice and work closely with colleagues to deliver improvements and streamline working practices.

You should have a positive and pragmatic outlook in order to motivate your team to be action focused in providing the highest standards of service delivery. You will be an excellent role model and demonstrate NHS Tayside values in your practice. You will be supported by the Lead Pharmacy Technician & Senior Pharmacy Technician, Dispensing Services to ensure core services are provided effectively with quality standards met and regularly reviewed.

You must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).

Applicants must hold a recognised final accuracy checking qualification and a recognised leadership & management qualification.

Qualities Required:

  • A personal and professional philosophy that puts patients at the centre of service activity
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to establish and maintain relationships in a multidisciplinary team
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing service needs and meet tight deadlines
