Job Advert

An Audit Facilitator post has become available in the NHS Tayside, Cancer Information and Audit Team. Cancer Audit Facilitators are responsible for the collection of key Cancer Quality Performance Indicator data for NHS Tayside. This is used as a tool to measure the performance of cancer services in Tayside against clinical effectiveness and national waiting times targets and is part of the quality assurance process within Clinical Governance.

The role offers development of audit, analytical and communication skills and the role would suit someone who would like to expand their skill sets in these areas in a supportive environment.

Knowledge of Cancer Information is not expected. This role would suit someone willing to step up to the challenge of learning and developing audit skills.

The Role

The Cancer Audit Facilitator will work with cancer clinicians and other NHS staff in Tayside to:

  • Implement and maintain collection of complete, accurate and timely data to monitor the treatment of patients newly diagnosed with cancer.
  • Analyse, present, and report data to measure services against national, regional and local standards (eg. Detect Cancer Early) and waiting times targets for the site-specific groups.
  • Work closely with Cancer Consultants and discuss performance as well as definitions. Their expertise will be clinical, your expertise will be in how standards are defined and key part of the role is reaching consensus on how performance is measured.
  • Develop ways of maintaining and checking records to improve quality control.

Skills/Experience

Applicants should possess excellent keyboard, communication, administrative, organisational and negotiating skills. Experience using Microsoft Office suite of applications. Advanced Excel skills are desirable but not essential.

Whilst previous experience/knowledge of audit or reporting would be advantageous, full training will be given to candidates who can demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment.

Written approval must be sought from your line manager prior to applying for this secondment. You will be required to bring this if shortlisted for interview. The successful applicant will return to a post within their substantive department at their substantive grade at the end of the secondment period

You will be required to comply with the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland throughout your employment. Information on the Healthcare Support Worker Regulations can be found on NHS Tayside microsite on Staffnet>Our Websites>Healthcare Support Workers.
