Job Advert

We are looking to recruit a GP wishing to develop their emergency skills to work in our integrated team.

Although there is a core rota it does allow flexibility and as such the post holder can combine this post with other roles.

Emergency care within Inverness is delivered by a combined Emergency Department and Primary Care Emergency Centre.

Post holders must hold the Certificate of Completion of Training for General Practitioners and be eligible for inclusion on the General Practice
Primary Care performers list. Applicants can apply if within 6 months of completion of training.

We are seeking to recruit a doctor who has an interest in delivering high quality emergency care to join our team. You will be based within the modern Emergency Department of Raigmore Hospital in Inverness. You will join our established team of Emergency Practitioners who have a unified role providing emergency care for both Emergency Department and Out of Hours Primary Care patients in conjunction with both hospital and General Practice colleagues.  In addition you will be involved with the training and mentoring of Unscheduled Care Nurse Practitioners.

This is an exciting prospect, providing broad clinical exposure to the full range of emergency care in a modern environment with full support facilities and excellent continuing professional development opportunities.

This post and the department are supported by four full-time Consultants, two part-time Consultants, 1 part-time Associate Specialist, 5.2 WTE EPs, 7 GPST’s, 1 ACCS Trainee and GPs, unscheduled care practitioners and emergency nurse practitioners.

Raigmore is a modern District General Hospital with 454 beds, which serves a catchment area of almost 10,000 square miles covering the entire Scottish Highlands and a population of 210,000 excluding Argyll & Bute. The City of Inverness is the Capital of the Highlands and offers an enviable lifestyle and environment combining excellent access to a breadth of outdoor pursuits with excellent air links and easy road and rail connections to other UK centres.

Prior experience in A&E is expected with experience in resuscitation courses desirable. However, additional training is also available.

Informal enquiries would be welcomed by Dr Andrew Rowlands, Service Lead for Emergency Department, Tel 01463 704358.
