It is the aspiration of South Lanarkshire HSCP to closely align Mental Health and Addictions services in the future.  Therefore there is potential for these posts to develop into Mental Health and Addictions Integrated Service Managers posts.


The successful candidates will be accountable for direct delivery of services in defined geographic areas and/or clinical specialities.  They will plan and implement activities in own area of responsibility.  There is also responsibility for developing local policies/protocols for implementing NHSL policy taking into account impact on other parts of the organisation or other agencies.


They will provide dynamic leadership and be accountable at locality level for the operational management of a wide but defined range of professional disciplines taking responsibility for performance management, resource usage and activity and be involved in the strategic management of services within the locality.


They will manage, develop and direct services with the overall aim of improving health and reducing health inequalities and contribute to the wider redesign/modernisation agenda and to the development/implementation of strategy across the Health & Social Care Partnership and NHSL, including work with Partner Agencies and deputise as required for the Unit General Manager.


The successful candidates must have a public service background in care delivery and a minimum of 5 years management experience with a proven track record in the successful management of staff and other resources. They will be educated to/working towards/operating at Master’s Degree level or equivalent and possess excellent leadership and interpersonal skills to support effective negotiation, influencing, involvement and encouragement.  They will have strategic and operational management capabilities, sound analytical information management / technological / financial management skills, a proven track record of partnership and collaborative working internal and external to the organisation and understanding and experience of Organisational Development and the creation of effective, high performance teams.  They will possess clear understanding of and commitment to the development of Community Planning Frameworks and Health & Social Care Partnerships as vehicles to promote the integration of all services reflecting user/public need and expectation.  The successful candidate will have the ability to compose clear, accurate and relevant reports and be a car driver with access to a car.
