Torridon Medical Practice Team
Salaried GP in Rural Practice
22 hours per week
Permanent or Fixed Term considered
£79,017 to £89,070 per annum pro rata
with a £5,000 non-superannuable car allowance

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to become part of a small team of Rural GP’s providing excellent primary care services to the active and resillient communities of Kinlochewe, Torridon and Shieldaig and communities in between. This remote and rural practice is located on the West Coast of Scotland and offers stunning highland coastal and mountain scenery, along with diverse wildlife.
Applications from candidates interested in applying for short fixed term contracts from four months to two years are welcomed.
The current practice population is 441, which increases significantly due to tourism throughout the year.
There are links to the other practices in Applecross and Lochcarron.
The local community hospital, based in Broadford, provides support and advice when requested from the Rural Practitioners who are based there.
The practice is spacious, with a consulting room, large treatment room, and dispensary.
The staff consist of two receptionists/dispensors, two part time GPs, a shared practice manager, and a number of visiting clinicians and support services.
GPs have a 10 hour day, 8am until 6pm. We offer 15 minute appointments in both morning and afternoon surgeries, seeing on average 6-10 patients each session. This enables the delivery of quality care to the community. The practice offers flexibility in patient care as a response to the remote and rural location.
Torridon practice covers the surgery in Lochcarron on a Wednesday afternoon, when they are closed. Torridon practice is closed on a Thursday all day and covered by the surgery in Lochcarron.
We are seeking a colleague who, ideally, will be experienced, or willing to undertake skills, such as minor injury, pre-hospital care, and palliative care. BASICS’s training is preferable and can be arranged.
Out of hours is a separate contract and currently shared with the GPs at the Ferguson Medical Centre in Lochcarron.
Our practice team is supported by an excellent community nursing team who are have bases in Torridon, Lochcarron and Applecross, covering community and some practice nursing duties. ???????

You will be working as part of an extended team of professionals including the Scottish Ambulance Service, RNLI, Coastguards, Fire and Rescue Services, Police, and Mountain Rescue.
