An opportunity has arisen for a permanent Band 4 Occupational Therapy Healthcare Support Worker to join our well established teams within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (GGC).  Supporting Specialist Occupational Therapy staff in the delivery of treatment to individuals and groups of children with various occupational therapy needs, the children you work with may have complex difficulties and social care issues in addition to special educational needs within a school setting.  This is a community based post and you will work in a variety of settings, with a number of different disciplines/agencies, supporting the child/young person. The post is across the 3 Glasgow sectors of our NHS GG&C service and will involve contributing to all teams and a variety of clinical bases across the working week.  Full driving license is required and access to a car is desirable.  A knowledge and understanding of the role of OT within Specialist Children’s Services is also desirable.  Effective communication, organisational and time management skills are required, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.  You will support Specialist Occupational Therapy staff in carrying out duties as directed, designing and implementing therapy programmes for patients who have been assessed by the Occupational Therapists to identify goals around wellbeing and occupational performance.  Regular supervision and support will be provided as will the opportunity to self-develop through the use of an annual development review and a Personal Development Plan. Experience of working with children and young people is desirable but this post provides an excellent opportunity to develop these skills in a supportive environment.  You should have a formal qualification to HND level or above or relevant HNC or SVQ or equivalent life skills gained through work or personal experience.  It would be desirable if you have a current driving licence and have a membership with British Association of Occupational Therapy. The shift pattern for this post is to be confirmed.
