Job Advert

As a major division within the NHS National Services Scotland, the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) plays a vital role not only in the health of the people of Scotland but also on an international scale – through our leading position in new product development, biomedical research and donor services.  Our goal is to maintain the highest standards to patient care whilst remaining internationally competitive.

We are looking for a confident, dynamic, forward thinking nurse who can lead and effectively manage a large team. You will require excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills. You will be self motivated, proactive and an innovative individual with the ability to be flexible and react positively to on-going changing demands and priorities.

Knowledge of blood collection processes would be advantageous as you will be required to undertake venepuncture and medical selection of donors. You must also be able to demonstrate evidence of ongoing professional development working within the competencies framework.

The position is based in Edinburgh; travel throughout the region is also required. You must be flexible, and willing to work variable hours that will include regular weekends and late evenings.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme Disclosure Scotland check.

Candidates must have current NMC registration at the time of applying.

Any candidate who has lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.

Our benefits package includes pension scheme, comprehensive range of work life balance policies, occupational health services, learning resource centres and discounted leisure, financial and shopping benefits.
