National Services Division (NSD) plans, funds and co-ordinates national specialist and screening services on behalf of NHS Boards and the Scottish Government Health and Social Care Directorates (SGHSCD).


Within NSD the National Strategic Network (NSN) Teams provide networks with consistent, high quality managerial and strategic support to ensure they achieve aims and objectives agreed through national commitments supported by Scottish Government. We also facilitate links to integrate networks into operational management and local, regional and national planning structures within and beyond healthcare.


We are seeking experienced Programme Support Officers to join our team to support portfolios of national networks and policy implementation programmes across Scotland.  Ideal candidates will have excellent interpersonal, organisational, IT and communication skills. They will be highly motivated individuals who work well with others and are able to work to deadlines and prioritise a busy workload. 


The ideal candidates will have strong experience in health service management, planning of services, programme management and quality improvement.


This is a challenging role that requires excellent project support/administration skills for a complex, and dynamic environment being part of a core team.


Networks include service users, health and other professionals from education, social care and voluntary organisations. Engaging with service users at this level requires the postholder to be able to commit to occasional out of hours work. Frequent travel throughout Scotland is also required. A pool/hire car is available for business use if required.


Any candidate who have lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.
