Job Advert

Vibrant community, great lifestyle and an acute hospital transforming the way it delivers remote and rural health care?  Sound appealing?  Then we have some great opportunities at Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin.

Our district general hospital is at the heart of the community and we’re investing in the future by creating sustainable clinical services. It’s an exciting time for you to join our team as a consultant in General Medicine, Emergency Medicine or Acute Care of the Elderly (ACE).

The ACE MDT (Consultants, GPwSI, advanced nurse practitioners, ACE unit nurses, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and social work) provide comprehensive geriatric assessment and care to the frail elderly in our dedicated 10 bedded unit. We also work with community health and social care partners to directly support patients in community hospitals and virtually link to GP practices to optimize patients in their own homes and avoid crisis admissions.

The ACE unit was established 3 years ago and has made significant improvements to patient pathways of care. Further developments, including specialist clinics, involvement in whole-system initiatives such as Home First and expansion to take dedicated responsibility for the stroke rehab unit, give our new Consultant colleagues the opportunity to be an integral part of future service improvements.

The job plan does not include on-call or out of hours commitment.

Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC is required. For more information visit www.gmc-uk.org

Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from date of interview or eligibility for specialist registration (CESR).
