The Emergency Department at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh has a worldwide reputation for research. In order to coordinate and support the expanding portfolio of research, audit and service improvement, the Emergency Medicine Research Group Edinburgh (EMERGE) was formed in 2008 and continues to grow.

We are currently recruiting an experienced, band 6 research nurse to introduce research activity and coordinate a range of research projects in the Emergency Department at St John’s Hospital, under the supervision and guidance of EMERGE. The post will involve screening and recruitment activities, assisting with the care of research participants, teaching, and collecting and managing research samples and data. The scope of studies and projects is expanding, creating an exciting and leading research specialty to work within.

We are looking for an enthusiastic nurse with a genuine interest in clinical research, who has experience working in research and/or the Emergency Department or acute care setting. The successful candidate will need to understand the dynamic and challenging environment of the ED and how that translates to research activity. The post holder will be supported and work under the management of the EMERGE team.

Secondment will be subject to agreement from your Line Manager.
