An opportunity has arisen for a post as a Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology to be employed by Psychological Services and work within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). The post will be based within the North CAMHS Team at Ayrshire Central Hospital in Irvine, but sessions may be allocated to the other CAMHS Teams within Ayrshire and Arran and will reflect the need to meet the requirements of children and families in Ayrshire and Arran. The post holder will provide assessment, formulation and psychological interventions to child and young people across Ayrshire &Arran This will include group work and opportunities to give support to frontline staff within schools and primary care through prevention, promotion, liaison, training and consultation. Support and supervision will be provided by a Clinical Psychologist within CAMHS.
You should have an undergraduate psychology degree and a Masters in Applied Psychology (Children and Young People). You must have excellent communication skills and a genuine interest in promoting children and young people's mental health. Psychological Services employ approximately 100 staff including the Professional Lead: for Psychological Services, two Heads of Psychological Specialty (1) Adult and (2) Child and Adult Learning Disabilities. The Service has developed a professional skill-mix, including Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, Clinical Associates in Applied Psychology, Clinical Nurse Specialists in CBT, Graduate Assistant Psychologists, Masters and Doctoral Trainees. The Service places a strong emphasis on governance and CPD and has excellent opportunities for training and access to special interest and professional groups. The Service has close links with the University of Glasgow, Clinical Psychology Doctoral Training Course and the NES-funded training courses for Clinical Associates in Applied Psychology.
This post is offered on a 12 month fixed term, full time (37.5 hours/week) basis. In order to support clinicians in the delivery of their role, Psychological Services places a strong emphasis on governance and CPD and has excellent opportunities for training and access to special interest/professional groups and supervision from an experienced Clinical Psychologist.
