As a major division within the NHS National Services Scotland, the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) plays a vital role not only in the health of the people of Scotland but also on an international scale – through our leading position in new product development, biomedical research and donor services.  Our goal is to maintain the highest standards to patient care whilst remaining internationally competitive.
Applications are invited from Biomedical Scientists registered with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) to join the Patient Services team based in the Scottish National Blood Transfusion department in Raigmore Hospital in Inverness. This busy department provides a blood banking and red cell reference service for the hospitals in Inverness and the Highlands. This post offers the opportunity to gain experience in all aspects of work undertaken in blood banking and red cell investigation sections of the department. The successful applicants will join a team of highly skilled and motivated Biomedical Scientists working in those sections. The applicant will be trained to lone work during their time with the department and will be expected to participate in the 24/7/365 shift service. 
Applicants must have completed the IBMS Registration Portfolio. Applicants working towards state registration will be considered. For staff currently working in a Health Care environment active participation in CPD are both supported and encouraged. You will undergo training as appropriate for the requirements of the position.

Candidates should have currently HCPC registered at the time of applying or working towards registration.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme Disclosure check. Any candidate who has worked overseas for more than 3 months will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.
