Working as a Call Operator, you will receive calls from patients who have or may be suffering from a pre-determined symptoms, some even with the symptoms of the Coronavirus. You will need to listen sensitively and communicate clearly and accurately. Patients you speak to may be anxious or upset, and rely on you to instil confidence with your enthusiastic, focused and professional approach to every call.

You are enthusiastic and committed to fully undertaking this opportunity. You have the ability to follow instruction and adhere to process whilst listening sensitively and communicate clearly with the callers.
As a Call Operator, you will be part of a busy and growing team playing your part in helping to ensure that patients and the public are first in everything NHS Scotland does. This will involve asking specific scripted questions and collecting and recording patient responses. There may be some patients who are in need of an immediate response, and will require to be directed to clinical colleagues or to other NHS services for further assessment. However, you will only be required to undertake this when being supervised by an experienced clinician.
