Part Time; 1.5 PA (6 hours per week)
Fixed Term: 3 years in the first instance
Broad Based Training is a different and exciting ‘core level’ programme. It offers trainees the opportunity to develop their specialty career interest through a 2-year programme with trainees rotating through paediatrics, medicine, psychiatry and general practice. This is ideal for trainees who do not know exactly what they want to do and/or want more flexibility. The programme is a national programme with responsibility for trainees across the four regions of the Scotland Deanery. The training programme director is responsible for the management and recruitment of trainees in addition to contributing to the development and implementation of this relatively new programme which was launched in August 2018.

The TPD should be a Consultant or GP and is accountable to the Postgraduate Dean and appropriate Associate Dean. He or she may also combine the role with that of an educational and/or clinical supervisor, or with being a TPD in another specialty.
The post is currently paid 1.5 PA to reflect the workload around developing this new programme.
