CHIEF EXECUTIVE

EXECUTIVE AND SENIOR MANAGEMENT BAND H
SALARY £118k to £160k

We are recruiting for a Chief Executive for NHS National Services Scotland.

NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) is a Non-Departmental Public Body at the heart of the health service providing a range of national, specialist and shared infrastructure services and solutions to NHS Scotland boards and to some wider public sector organisations. Accountable to the Scottish Government, NSS is integral to the delivery of health and care services in Scotland – locally, regionally and nationally.

Our aim is to ensure NSS is integral to a world-leading health and care service by enabling health and care transformation, assisting other organisations involved in health and care, and continuing to underpin NHS Scotland with excellent support services. As the board’s strategic lead, you will lead and drive the development and implementation of our organisational strategy. Our stakeholders include NHS Scotland, Integrated Joint Boards, Local Authorities, Non-Departmental Public Bodies, the Scottish Government and the wider public sector.

You will have experience of operating at board level in a diverse, complex, and expanding organisation, which requires the operational understanding of matrix management skills. You will have gained your experience through significant senior level experience in a healthcare system, NHS or other public sector organisation.  It would be an advantage if you also had experience of working at a senior level in a commercial organisation, but this is not essential.

We are looking for an experienced and inspirational leader with a strong sense of purpose who demonstrates through their behaviours and actions an absolute commitment to NHS Scotland values:

•    Care and compassion
•    Dignity and respect
•    Openness, honesty and responsibility
•    Quality and teamwork

You will have a collaborative leadership style and a natural ability to build trust and strong relationships throughout a complex organisation. You should also have a demonstrable track record of high level achievement against challenging performance targets and be able to lead across boundaries and build relationships across NHS Scotland, the Scottish Government, Local Authorities and the wider public sector.

Our benefits package includes a pension scheme, comprehensive range of work/life balance policies, occupational health services, learning resource centres and discounted leisure, financial and shopping benefits.

For an informal discussion or to find out more, please contact either our Chair Keith Redpath on Keith.Redpath@nhs.scot or Jacqui Jones, Director of Human Resources & Workforce Development on Jacqui.Jones@nhs.scot .Further information on NSS is available from: www.nhsnss.org

Closing date for completed applications is 20 October 2020
