Job Purpose

  • The practitioner works in partnership with the Luminal GI team in the provision of a specialist nursing & physiology service to patients within the Gastroenterology Directorate in Lothian.
  • The practitioner will provide out-patient clinic based services independently including assessment of patients with iron deficiency anaemia, and clinically stable patients with IBD, in conjunction with the IBD nursing service based at WGH. Additional activities will include support for the GI lab service, and may include capsule endoscopy, breath testing and oesophageal physiology.
  • The practitioner as part of the specialist team uses audit to ensure that the quality of the service is monitored.
  • Will assist in providing specialist education, advice and training programmes for patients and other professional groups.
