Job Advert

An opportunity has arisen to join Acute Services within NHS Forth Valley as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner within the Surgical Assessment Unit. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced nurse who will embrace this dynamic and challenging role. Ideally the applicant will be a competent Advanced Nurse Practitioner, an expert clinical practitioner responsible for providing advanced clinical skills, enhancing care and improving patient flows in conjunction with national standards. The post holder will possess advanced knowledge of the acutely unwell patient thus ensuring their effective management and treatment. This will involve working across professional and organisational boundaries in partnership with other acute care nursing and medical staff, allied health professionals and senior management teams.  They will provide direct patient management in partnership with senior medical staff, have sound clinical knowledge and highly developed clinical decision-making skills in acute care.

The applicant should posses the ability to prioritise fluctuating workloads, remain focused, and be flexible in an extremely busy environment. Experience within acute surgical admissions is desirable but not essential. The post will support part of the advanced practice team based in FVRH and while based in Surgical Assessment Unit will offer opportunities for rotation within Acute Services.

Qualifications to be undertaken:

  • Non-medical prescribing NMC registered
  • Advanced Clinical Examination accredited course, preferably at level 11
  • UK accredited ALS provider certificate
  • Masters Level study.
  • Appropriate decision-making course such as Recognition and Management of the Acutely Unwell Adult
