An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably experienced person to provide strategic, clinical and professional nursing leadership for the delivery of Care Assurance and Professional Development and Education across NHS Ayrshire and Arran. 

With significant experience working and successfully contributing within a senior management team, applicants should have demonstrable track record of success in the Delivery of Care Assurance and Standards and Quality Improvement, and the delivery of post pre and post graduate nursing and midwifery education and multidisciplinary professional development. 

The successful candidate will be Educated to Masters level or equivalent (e.g. degree and professional qualification) together with a Lead level Improvement skills qualification (e.g. Scottish Improvement Leader, Scottish Patient Safety Programme Fellow, Institute of Healthcare Improvement, Improvement Advisor or Fellow) and current and revalidated nursing registration with NMC.

The post holder will:-

•    ensure that robust systems, policies, procedures, professional guidance, standards and training and education strategies are in place to shape the Future Nurse and Midwifery workforce.
•    have responsibility to lead the implementation of the Scottish Future Nurse and Midwife Programme ensuring the future graduate workforce in NHS Ayrshire and Arran will have a greater focus on public health, health improvement and wellbeing, and a greater balance across physical and mental health.  
•    provide leadership and operational delivery for the Excellence in Care (EiC) Programme. This unique role will improve the quality and safety of care for people, in all care settings within NHS Ayrshire and Arran, by developing a quality management approach to Care Assurance within nursing and midwifery at national, health board/ IJB and team level. The post holder will ensure a board/national, data and intelligence-led approach to care assurance continuous improvement of nursing and midwifery quality of care.
•    provide strategic leadership under the Deputy Nurse Director to lead the development, coordination and management of the implementation of a NMAHP strategy for NHS Ayrshire and Arran and explore the potential for the organisation to move towards Magnet designation.
•    work collaboratively with a range of professional nursing and midwifery expertise, assurance and improvement experts securing appropriate clinical and operational skills and experience to deliver the programme.
•    have responsibility to lead and manage the ongoing development of pre and post  
graduate nursing and midwifery education across NHS Ayrshire and Arran, ensuring standards of clinical practice, patient centred care and workforce development are in place to maximise the delivery of care. This will include collaborative working with Further Education and Higher Education Institutes and oversight of the provision of learning placements. 

•    lead the development of Quality Improvement education, specialist training programmes and coaching to increase NHS Ayrshire and Arran’s QI capability and capacity as outlined in the Quality Strategy Excellence for Ayrshire.
•    work closely with Nursing and Midwifery, Medical and AHP leaders to provide visible leadership and engagement with staff.
