Who We Are

NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is an education and training body and a special health board within NHS Scotland, with responsibility of developing and delivering education and training for the healthcare workforce in Scotland.

The work of the Medical Directorate is split into 4 main work streams; Professional Development (where this work sits), Quality, Strategic Planning and Directorate Support, and Training Management.

The post holder will primarily be working within the NES Supporting Scottish Grief and Bereavement Care team to support the activities of the workstream, and will also have some involvement in the Specialty and Associate Specialist Doctors and Dentists (SAS) workstream.

What you'll do 

Key tasks will include but are not restricted to:

  • provide high level of pro-active administrative and project management support.
  • plan and organise a variety of competing tasks, including the involvement in multiple projects (e.g. educational resource development), programmes of work (e.g. supporting national networks), conference and events management (both virtual and in person).
  • monitor and review financial information.
  • coordinate and contribute to the production of risk registers, operational plans, reports, communications, e-newsletters, minutes, course evaluations, promotional materials, PowerPoint presentations and statistics.
  • support the development of updates for quarterly performance measures.
  • Respond to information requests and enquiries (that may include sensitive information) with a high degree of communication skills
  • contribute to website design and maintenance.

What you'll bring

These will include but are not restricted to:

  • Educated to Degree Level or Equivalent
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills, including report writing, presentation skills and the ability to deliver training.
  • Experience of communicating with stakeholders and audiences at every level.
  • Experience of managing complex issues at a corporate level
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate clearly, effectively and confidently at all levels in the workplace.
  • Ability in planning, organising and prioritising own and others work effectively.
  • Able to produce work of a high quality with minimum supervision
