Job Advert

As a vital part of NHS Scotland, NHS National Services Scotland’s purpose is to support Scotland’s Health.  We do this by providing a range of specialised support services that enable NHS Boards to focus their efforts on health improvement and delivering world class patient care.

Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS), a Strategic Business Unit (SBU) within the NHS National Services Scotland, plays a vital role not only in the health of the people of Scotland but also on an international scale – through our leading position in manufacturing, product development, biomedical research and donor services.  Our goal is to maintain the highest standards to patient care whilst remaining internationally competitive.

We are currently looking for two enthusiastic individuals to join our team based in Edinburgh. The main duty of the post is driving our Service Vehicles delivering Blood Components to hospitals all over Scotland (including emergency deliveries).  We provide a 24/7/365 service, which will involve working early, day and late shifts on a rotational basis with some weekend working.

You should hold a driving license entitlement for class B/B+E (a vehicle with MAM of 3500kgs with a trailer) with a C1 (a vehicle between 3500kgs & 7500kgs) being desirable but not essential. The post is based within our Transport Section, at Jack Copland Centre, Herriot Watt University Campus, Edinburgh but travel to our other depot at Glasgow could be required.

Our benefits package includes pension scheme, comprehensive range of work life balance policies, occupational health services, learning resource centres and discounted leisure, financial and shopping benefits.

For an informal discussion on the post, please contact Kenny Bertram on 0131 314 5571 available Monday to Friday between 7am and 3pm.
