Applications are invited from candidates with a First or Second Class Honours Degree in Physical Sciences or Engineering for entry to the training scheme for Medical Physicists. The scheme is commissioned by NES.
We aim to employ a minimum of 4 trainees in total. All trainees will be enrolled on the Medical Physics Training scheme.
The training in Scotland will include rotations and acquaintanceships allowing trainees to build a portfolio for registration as a clinical scientist with the Health and Care Professions Council. Funding for postgraduate training and course fees will be provided. Current salary scale for these supernumerary trainee posts is ‘AfC’ band 6.
Trainees will each be given a contract of employment, starting at the beginning of September 2021 with one of the Scottish departments. Medical Physics Trainees will register on the Scottish Training Scheme and, in their first year of employment, study for an MSc degree at Aberdeen or Glasgow University. In the subsequent years of employment, trainees will be based in Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow or Inverness.
