Scottish Medical Physics & Clinical Engineering Training Scheme 2021
Clinical Engineering (3.5 years)
Applications are invited from candidates with a First or Second Class Honours Degree in Physical Sciences or Engineering for entry to the training scheme for Clinical Engineers. The scheme is commissioned by NES.
We aim to employ a minimum of one trainee in total. The trainee will be enrolled on the Clinical Engineering scheme.
The training in Scotland will include rotations and acquaintanceships allowing trainees to build a portfolio for registration as a clinical scientist with the Health and Care Professions Council. Funding for postgraduate training and course fees will be provided. Current salary scale for these supernumerary trainee posts is ‘AfC’ band 6.
Trainees will each be given a contract of employment, starting at the beginning of September 2021 with one of the Scottish departments. Clinical Engineering Trainees will register on the Scottish Training Scheme and, in their first year of employment, study for an MSc degree at Strathclyde University. In the subsequent years of employment, trainees will be based in Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow or Inverness.
