Orthopaedic Theatre Nurses

We are now looking for experienced Theatre Nurses to join our pioneering Orthopaedic Department at NHS Golden Jubilee.

Nursing is a key part of everything we do at NHS Golden Jubilee, and as we continue the major expansion of our services, this is your chance to become part of a progressive, dynamic and person centred team, within a world renowned healthcare organisation.

We have a range of full time, part time, bank and permanent staff positions available at Band 5, with flexible working patterns and a variety of shifts available.

Working in our Orthopaedic Department, you will be part of a world leading team, developing the pioneering Caledonian Technique, the Orthopaedic robotics programme, research and clinical trials.

As a Green (COVID light) hospital site, the NHS Golden Jubilee will support NHS Scotland to deliver a wide range of surgeries and elective programmes. To support this the hospital has accelerated its expansion plans, and there has never been a more exciting time to join our team.

About the Role

The role of Theatre Nurse is both unique and challenging and that’s partly what makes it such a rewarding career.

Every day is different, whether you are scrubbing in for a procedure for the first time, dealing with emergency medical situations, or teaching students, the role is extremely diverse.

As the Theatre Nurse, you are responsible for maintaining the sterile field whilst ensuring the appropriate instruments are available for the surgical team. You will perform counts of swabs, sharps and instruments to ensure that all items are correct and accounted for at the beginning and end of a procedure.

In this role, you will circulate in the theatre space, helping to position patients on the operating table, arranging all appropriate instruments for each patient and be prepared to open any additional items required during the procedure.

You will be a key part of our theatre team, playing a vital role in delivering a high standard of safe, effective and person centred patient care.

As part of Team Jubilee, you will be able to continuously develop your skills and knowledge by rotating through the different specialities in the Theatre Department - Orthopaedics, Cardiac, Thoracic and General surgery.

Our dedicated Theatre Clinical Education Coordinator works closely with the NHS Leadership Academy, to provide further training, personal and professional development opportunities.

Each day is a busy one, but the fast paced environment and knowing you have made a real difference to a patient’s life makes this a very rewarding experience.

Why NHS Golden Jubilee?

Our philosophy of caring is embedded into our central framework, and will guide everything you do as part at NHS Golden Jubilee. As part of the team, you will be offered extensive personal and professional development available, allowing you to take control of your future, seek out opportunities for improvement and advance your career.
