As a major division within the NHS National Services Scotland, the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) plays a vital role not only in the health of the people of Scotland but also on an international scale – through our leading position in new product development, biomedical research and donor services.  Our goal is to maintain the highest standards to patient care whilst remaining internationally competitive.

We are looking for a Band 6 Charge Nurse to join our existing team of staff who provide a high standard of care to our Donors. You will be required to assist with the day to day management of the Blood Donor Sessions liaising closely with the Senior Charge Nurse, as well as carrying out all delegated staff management. You will be responsible for carrying out assessments of Donors pre donation and Donor Care at all stages of the donation process to ensure Donor retention.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated, flexible person to undertake this challenging and interesting post. Candidates should be Registered General Nurse Level 1 and ideally have previous experience of phlebotomy, although full training will be given to the successful candidate.

The position is within Donor Services Blood Collection Team and based in Edinburgh, however extensive travel throughout the region will be required. You must be flexible, and willing to work variable hours. Hours will include regular weekends and late evenings as per operational requirements. You must possess excellent communication skills and be able to work under pressure.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who has worked overseas for more than 3 months will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.

Candidates must have current NMC registration at the time of applying.
