43689 Cardiology Specialty Clinical Lead

An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated clinical practitioner to join the cardiology team within NHS Dumfries & Galloway as the Cardiology Speciality Clinical Lead.  The post holder will be responsible in leading a team of medical staff, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Cardiac Rehabilitation and Heart Failure nurses.  The successful post holder will also work closely with the Clinical Physiology team.

The post holder will also be: 

• Responsible for the operational development of Cardiology services and implementation of policies throughout Dumfries and Galloway
• Able to work within NHS Dumfries and Galloway Managed Clinical network for CHD to implement Cardiac Strategy for West of Scotland.
• Co-ordinate  cardiology interventions within Dumfries and Galloway
• Act as a clinical expert making advanced highly complex decisions and judgements as an autonomous practitioner
• Responsible for the development and management of a fully integrated specialist nursing team throughout Dumfries and Galloway that will provide advanced specialist nursing input and support to patients with a variety of cardiac conditions including Acute Coronary Syndromes, Cardiac Rehabilitation, Cardiac Arrhythmias, heart failure and inherited cardiac conditions to both inpatients and outpatients and their families/carers in an acute and community environment.
• To provide corporate and professional leadership and supervise junior nursing and medical staff in appropriate prescribing and delivery of “nurse led” treatment clinics for cardiac conditions.
• Manage the budget in year within standing financial instructions and lead in all aspects of human resource management within own sphere.​​​​​​​
