Annex 21 Section 2 (ii)

Candidates who commence on band 5 will be required to successfully complete the appropriate qualification/s or training as outlined within the Annex 21 competency framework prior to progressing to band 6.

Whitefield Assessment and Rehabilitation Centre Nurse Practitioner/Trainee Nurse Practitioner

A great opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dedicated Nurse Practitioner to join the multidisciplinary team (MDT) at Whitefield Assessment and Rehabilitation Centre (WARC), Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline. Ideally, you will be a Band 6 level nurse with the skills, knowledge, and experience to step into this post but we will also consider nurses at Band 5 level with the aptitude to develop into this role though education and training.
WARC provides medical and rehabilitation services to older and frail people to prevent hospital admission, support people recently discharged from hospital and optimise their health and wellbeing through a coordinated approach. The Nurse Practitioner works effectively as a senior member of WARC ensuring the delivery of high quality, clinically effective care, utilising a full range of clinical skills and knowledge. There will be a close working partnership with the Advance Nurse Practitioner, and with the doctors, therapists and administrative staff in the West Fife and Kirkcaldy Localities.
You should have a clinical-decision-making qualification at degree level or above. This should include the ability to work autonomously as a Nurse Practitioner as well as having clinical skills including venepuncture, ECG, IV additives and cannulation. A non-medical prescribing qualification would be desirable but not essential; however, it would be a requirement to undertake this in the future.
In line with the national arrangements for pay and banding of trainees, this post is open to suitable individuals who can demonstrate an ability to develop into the role of Nurse Practitioner following the successful completion of a structured academic and in-house training programme.
Individuals who meet the full requirements for Nurse Practitioner will commence on Band 6. Those applicants who are interested in developing in to the role following the successful completion of academic qualifications will commence on Band 5 in line with Annex 21 (pay and banding of trainees). On successful completion of this programme you will be transferred to Band 6.
You will have good communication skills and have a flexible attitude to work. The ability to travel within the area in a timely manner is essential.
This post involves working Mondays to Fridays during daytime shifts but flexibility may also be required to work over a 7 day period, working shifts covering the period from 08.00 – 22.00. Cross team working is an expectation of the role with input into Hospital at Home where required.
