Job Advert

We are now looking for experienced Theatre Nurses/ODP’s to join our pioneering Thoracic/General Department at NHS Golden Jubilee.

Nursing is a key part of everything we do at NHS Golden Jubilee, and as we continue the major expansion of our services, this is your chance to become part of a progressive, dynamic and person centred team, within a world renowned healthcare organisation.

We have a range of full time, part time, bank and permanent staff positions available at Band 5, with flexible working patterns and a variety of shifts available.  As a Green (COVID light) hospital site, the NHS Golden Jubilee will support NHS Scotland to deliver a wide range of surgeries and elective programmes. To support this the hospital has accelerated its expansion plans, and there has never been a more exciting time to join our team.

About the Role: the role of Theatre Nurse is both unique and challenging – that is partly what makes it such a rewarding career. Every day is different, whether it be scrubbing in for a procedure for the first time, dealing with emergency medial situations, or teaching students, it is an extremely diverse role.  As part of the Thoracic General team you will be expected to work in Thoracic, General and Endoscopy theatres.  The Theatre Nurse is responsible for maintaining the sterile field whilst handing instruments and swabs to the surgical team. You will also ensure counts of swabs, sharps and instruments are carried out to ensure that all items are correct and accounted for at the beginning and end of a procedure.

In this role, you will circulate the theatre space, helping to position patients on the operating table, being prepared to open any additional items required and arranging all appropriate instruments for each patient.

You will be a key part of our theatre team, playing a vital role in delivering a high standard of safe, effective and person centred patient care.  We have a dedicated Education Coordinator within the team, who works closely with the Leadership Academy, to provide further training, personal and professional development opportunities. Each day is a busy one, but the fast paced environment and knowing you have made a real difference to a patient’s life makes this a very rewarding experience.

Why NHS Golden Jubilee? Our philosophy of caring is embedded into our central framework, and will guide everything you do as part at NHS Golden Jubilee. As part of the team, you will be offered extensive personal and professional development available, allowing you to take control of your future, seek out opportunities for improvement and advance your career.

Based in Clydebank, the area has affordable housing and is an ideal location for first time buyers, as well as convenient and regular transport links to Glasgow City Centre and the West End.  For more information please Contact Leanne Fyfe, Clinical Nurse Manager Theatres on 0141 951 5383.
