Job Advert

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced nurse to join the Beatson Clinical Research Facility (BCRF) team.  The BCRF is an NHS facility which supports cancer clinical research across NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde and the study portfolio includes early phase/ translational and phase I-III experimental and advanced therapy studies across a wide range of adult solid and haematological malignancies.    In addition to facilities within the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre the B-CRF has outreach departments in the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH), New Victoria Hospital (NVH), Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH) and Inverclyde Hospital.

This post will be based at the RAH with an outreach clinic at Inverclyde one day per week and occasional cover for the NVH.    The ability to travel between all sites within NHS GGC is therefore necessary for this job and a car driver would be preferable. The post holder will work collaboratively with Principal and Chief Investigators at the RAH and Inverclyde in the management of the trial portfolio, duties will include regulatory administration, clinical trial coordination and data entry. The post holder will also coordinate the recruitment, education, monitoring and follow-up of research participants.

We are looking for an experienced RGN with relevant post registration experience, part of which should be in the cancer setting with experience of SACT delivery.  Evidence of appropriate post-registration qualification/relevant experience in cancer is essential.  Research experience is highly desirable although transferable skills can be demonstrated.     You will work to research principles, including confidentiality, randomisation procedures, informed consent and ethical issues, and have an understanding of research within the context of the Research Governance Framework and Good Clinical Practice.  Attention to detail, strong organisational and communication skills, good IT skills and a methodical approach are key requirements, along with a proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.    This is a fixed term post with renewable option. The hours of work are predominantly 9am-5pm but you will be required to take a flexible approach in order to meet the needs of the research studies.
