This Community General Adult Consultant Psychiatrist post is based at the Riverside Resource Centre, Partick.  The Resource Centre covers an approximate population of 59,000, including a range of housing types and deprivation levels which includes the local student population for Glasgow University. The post holder is responsible for outpatient treatments only, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The team comprises psychiatric nursing, occupational therapy, psychology and social work services.

In-patient beds are based at Gartnavel Royal Hospital, McNair Ward and there is a part time consultant colleague providing in-patient care for the caseload associated with this post.

It is expected that the successful applicant would provide consultant leadership within the community mental health team, working closely with the crisis team, social work and voluntary organisations to provide a comprehensive service. They will undertake RMO responsibilities for their patients managed under the Mental Health Act and undertake domiciliary visits, Mental Health Act / Adults Incapacity and legal work for the patients on their caseload. They will be expected to work closely with consultant colleagues within the area, general practitioners, third sector and other teams. There is also an expectation that the postholder will contribute to strategic development and on going development of the local service and the North West Division of Psychiatry.​​​​​​​

The postholder will participate in the 1 in 25 out of hours on-call and cover for colleagues during absence in line with arrangements set out in the National Terms and Conditions. The on-call rota covers the whole of North Glasgow covering 3 Hospital sites. An availability supplement of 3% is payable for this work.  Out of hours on-call is supported by Higher Specialist Trainees in Psychiatry providing a 2nd on call rota and 24 hour ST/FY junior doctor support on hospital sites.
