Who We Are 
NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is an education and training body and a special health board within NHS Scotland, with responsibility of developing and delivering education and training for the healthcare workforce in Scotland.


What You Will Do

You will be an active member of the TPD GPST Educational team in the West Region, with a particular emphasis on programme management and providing support for GP Trainees and Educational Supervisors (ES). This will involve support for Educational Supervisors’s via the local trainers’ group, skills development for established ES’s and supporting trainees requiring performance support. Other facets of the role are described in the job description.


What You Will Bring 

These will include but are not restricted to:

Essential Areas
•    Education and Professional Qualifications
•    GMC full registration 
•    General Practitioner registration 
•    MRCGP and uphold college standards
•    Current GPST Educational Supervisor

Experience/Training (including research if appropriate):
•    Current involvement in clinical General Practice
•    Knowledge of management and governance structures in medical education and training
•    Awareness of recent changes in the delivery of medical education and training nationally and locally
•    Awareness of differential attainment and Disability Discrimination Act
•    Interest and enthusiasm for improving delivery of medical education and training and continuing professional development. 
•    Knowledge of assessment methods, educational diagnosis and RCGP examinations and ePortfolio tools

Specific Skills & Knowledge:
•    Effective leadership and communications skills, motivating and developing others, approachability, good interpersonal skills 
•    Evidence of personal development in medical education

Personal Attributes:
•    Health standards applicable – Doctor 
•    Adequate time within the working week to undertake responsibilities as outlined in the job description

Desirable Areas:
• Education and Professional Qualifications
           - PG qualification in education
• Experience/Training (including research if appropriate)
           - RCGP Examiner
           - Evidence of relevant research and/or publications
           - Evidence of experience at strategic level of national or international education organisations
           - Ability to plan and deliver educational workshops


Specific Skills & Knowledge
•    Evidence of supporting trainees and trainers
•    Promoting use of digital technology in educational delivery
•    Evidence of audit/research in medical education
