Advanced Cancer Care Pharmacist (ACCP) Oncology- Band 8a 0.4WTE (Job-share)

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated pharmacist to join the pharmacy team at the Edinburgh Cancer Centre (ECC).  The ECC provides specialist cancer services for the South East of Scotland Cancer Network, treating haematology and oncology patients within day-case, OPD and in-patient settings.  It is a specialist tertiary referral centre for a number of rarer cancers and has a teenage and young adult unit.  The ECC has a broad research portfolio and participates in a wide range of cancer clinical trials. You will join a supportive pharmacy team, committed to the development of services to cancer patients.

The post-holder will work closely with senior colleagues to provide professional leadership of clinical pharmacy services for oncology patients.  You will be a key member of multi-disciplinary groups within the ECC and work closely with the MDT to improve and maintain delivery of the pharmacy service within your specialist area.  The post-holder will be jointly responsible with their job-share partner for:

  • Provision of leadership for the clinical pharmacy service to in-patient oncology wards
  • Leading on clinical protocol developments and updates
  • Provision of prescribing, medicines management and professional advice within area of responsibility to MDT and senior clinicians
  • The co-ordination of clinical placements within the ECC pharmacy service for a range of students and visiting healthcare professionals

Applicants should have cancer services experience and an independent prescriber qualification as well as a postgraduate pharmacy qualification.  You will have excellent clinical, organisational and communication skills. 

You will participate in WGH pharmacy department weekend rota’s on a pro-rata basis and ECC public holiday rota’s. 

This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
