This is a 2 year Modern Apprentice position for applicants who are aged 16 - 24 (or aged 16 – 29 if either Care Experienced* or Disabled) and who have not already graduated from University or a HND level College course.

NSS as a Non Departmental Public Body (NDPB) provides a diverse range of Strategic Business Units and Support functions for the NHS in Scotland. Processing and Payment of £2 billion in primary care payments on behalf of NHS Boards.  NSS employs approximately 3000 staff (comprising medical, nursing, technical, scientific, management and administration staff, located at 17 sites across Scotland and associated revenue costs of over £500 million).

The Modern Apprentice will work in the corporate learning and development team in NSS.  The team are based in both Glasgow and Edinburgh so travel between sites is expected and during the pandemic the team have been delivering services via Microsoft Teams.  The focus of the role is to provide support to the team who develop digital and blended learning approaches for learning across the organisation. 

The post holder will require a keen interest in digital content and creating materials, be able to prioritise workload and have a willingness to learn.  They will also have good written and interpersonal communication skills. Numeracy, accuracy and a good level good level of IT application and digital skills are also important in this role.

The term care-experienced refers to anyone who has been or is currently in care or from a looked-after background at any stage in their life, no matter how short, including adopted children who were previously looked-after.
