Who We Are 

NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is an education and training body and a special health board within NHS Scotland, with responsibility of developing and delivering education and training for the healthcare workforce in Scotland.

This is a new and exciting opportunity to be part of a newly formed team that will influence and support developing the digital capabilities and technology deployment and adoption across Scotland’s health and social care workforce.  
Digital technology has been essential in supporting health and care provision during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Enabling the acceleration of digitally delivered services across the sector providing much needed support to people across the country.  This has highlighted the need and further opportunities for continuing the momentum of digitally enabling the workforce. Therefore, Scottish Government is funding the role of Digital Learning Specialist – Knowledge, Information and Data (KIND) workforce.


What You Will Do 

As the Digital Learning Specialist for the Knowledge, Information and Data (KIND) workforce you will develop capabilities and new collaborative ways of working across the KIND workforce to support the digital transformation of health and social care.
In this role you will provide leadership and specialist input for specific education and other development programmes, projects and services for KIND staff, as a key part of the portfolio of work arising from developing a digitally enabled workforce. 
You will have a highly developed specialist knowledge in one of the knowledge, information and data disciplines.  Establishing, implementing and evaluating strategies, including the use of relevant frameworks and education pathways, to ensure equity of access to education and appropriate learning and development opportunities across the KIND workforce for Health and Social Care around leadership, culture and skills for digital transformation. 
Build on the recommendations from the NES/Public Health Scotland/Digital Health & Care Innovation Centre reports listed at on the homepage of the KIND Learning site. 
Develop clear learning pathways for the progression of KIND skills across the technology, evidence, translation/implementation and meta-skills domains. 
Identify existing and free resources for upskilling the KIND workforce, collate into this central library, improve and develop it in response to user feedback to ensure relevance and easy access across Health and Social Care.
Creation of a KIND Network and Virtual Learning Academy as described in the NES/PHS.DHI project reports, to support peer learning, collaboration across KIND disciplines and organisations for health and social care priorities, identification of KIND Champions and other initiatives that develop digital skills and technology adoption. 


What You Wil Bring

These will include but are not restricted to;

•    Experience of developing a Knowledge, Information and Data (KIND) workforce. How to close the skills gap between current state and what is needed for KIND staff to support digital transformation of health and social care.
•    The demonstrated ability in closing the gap between KIND technology and user adoption across the organization.
•    Previous experience of working with and or setting up knowledge-sharing networks and/or other initiatives that develop KIND skills and technology adoption.
•    Knowledge and experience of working with some or all of these organisations and sectors HSCPs, SSSC, NHS, Public Health Scotland, Digital Health & Care Innovation Centre, eHealth, SSSC, Scottish Care, Housing, Care Homes, Public Health, SCVO, Local Govt Digital Office
•    Considerable experience in creating learning and development material.
•    Experience of working collaboratively with key stakeholders across large organisations. 
•    Expert knowledge of Office 365 and the applications within including the adoption of these across a large organisation. 
•    Experience of project management, business analysis tools, techniques and methodologies.
•    An understanding of public sector, education and professional structures and processes along with knowledge of Scottish Policy.
