This is a 2 year fixed term post. 


Glasgow Clinical Research Facility (CRF) incorporates Clinical Research Facilities at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH), the Glasgow Royal Infirmary (GRI) and the Paediatric Clinical Research Facility at QEUH.  Jointly they provide a streamlined service to investigators to conduct their clinical research efficiently and safely.  We are recruiting a Senior Clinical Research Nurse to assist us in providing high quality nursing care for patients and volunteers participating in Clinical Research.  You will be working within the Clinical Research Facilities Renal Team.  It is essential you are a Registered Nurse with experience and an interest in Renal Medicine.  


The post holder will be trained and supported to coordinate the recruitment, education, monitoring and follow-up of research participants and the collection and documentation of accurate data.  You will work collaboratively with Principal and Chief Investigators and the wider multi-disciplinary team in the management of your own caseload of research patients.  You will be a First Level Registered Nurse with relevant clinical experience and educated to (or working towards) degree level.  Research experience is highly desirable although transferable skills can be demonstrated.  You will work to research principles, including confidentiality, randomisation procedures, informed consent and ethical issues, and have an understanding of research within the context of the Research Governance Framework and Good Clinical Practice.  Attention to detail, strong organisational and communication skills, good IT skills and a methodical approach are key requirements, along with a proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.


The hours of work are predominantly 8.30am-4.30pm but you will be required to take a flexible approach in order to meet the needs of the research studies, with a requirement to work unsocial hours and weekends as necessary. The ability to regularly travel between all sites within NHS GGC is also essential.
