As a vital part of NHS Scotland, NHS National Services Scotland’s mission is to enable and support the delivery of better health and better care, working in partnership with other NHS Boards. We do this by providing a range of specialised support services that enable NHS Boards to focus their efforts on delivering health improvement and patient care.

NSS, on behalf of the Health Boards and Primary Care General Practice, has recently procured next-generation GP IT systems, to be delivered as a centrally hosted managed service, which will be rolled out to all GP Practices across Scotland.   In order to achieve this successfully, NSS are seeking to recruit a Test Manager to plan and co-ordinate the testing of these new IT Services to ensure that they are clinically safe and fully meet the NHS Scotland specification. Working collaboratively with dedicated UAT testers in Health Boards, clinicians and GP IT facilitators with subject matter expertise, and our three GP IT system suppliers, the Test Manager will lead the GP IT test team to develop and implement a test strategy to ensure the new GP IT Services are fit for purpose.  This activity will be supported by a GP IT Implementation Project Team and dedicated GP IT staff from the Contract, Vendor and Service Management Team (CVSMT) at NSS.

The ideal candidate will have a strong working background in Functional Testing, together with proven experience in a Test Management and/or Test Lead Consultant role.  You will have experience of defining and rolling out testing approaches and processes across test teams, and have innovative ideas for measuring and improving test quality.  You will have excellent communications skills and a rigorous, structured and disciplined approach, with proven experience with SQL and either Atlassian Jira Software or HP Quality Centre / Micro Focus.  You will be able to work to challenging timescales and deliver to planned schedules.  The ideal candidate will have an IT / computing degree and ISTQB/ISEB Certification in Testing.
