All successful candidates will be enrolled onto a two year training programme to become a qualified pharmacy technician, during which you will be working 2 days per week in primary care, 2 days on a placement (either in a community pharmacy or a hospital setting) and 1 day a week on a bespoke college course. This exciting role will involve working with GPs and primary care clinical teams to support and improve patient care as a member of the NHSL prescribing support team. The objectives of the team are to improve the quality and cost effectiveness of prescribing and medicines use for patients across NHSL as well as delivering pharmacotherapy in line with the GMS 2018 contract. You will work closely with GPs, other practice staff, community pharmacists, care home staff, members of the primary healthcare multi-disciplinary team and central team colleagues in supporting the development and application of high quality, safe, cost effective, rational and evidence based prescribing in the Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP). You will be required to travel between GP practices and other healthcare settings to carry out the duties of this post.

As a trainee your pay is determined as a percentage of pay for qualified staff, in accordance with Annex 21 of the Agenda for Change terms and conditions.
