Education Development Facilitator (Practice Educator) – East Region 

Part Time: 7.5 hours per week (secondment) 

Secondment up to end of March 2022 * 

Location: Currently working from home/ Westport 102, Westport, Edinburgh 


Who we are  

NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is an education and training body and a special health board within NHS Scotland.NES is responsible for developing and delivering education and training for the healthcare workforce in Scotland. 


What you'll do 

This is an exciting initiative offering a secondment to pharmacists employed by health boards within the East Region (NHS Lothian , NHS Fife and NHS Borders) to a Pharmacy Education Development Facilitator (EDF) post. This post is an excellent career development opportunity and will support the East Region, in the delivery of NES Pharmacy practice education initiatives in support of the following programmes:-  

Foundation Training Year (FTY) (previously Pre-Registration Pharmacy Scheme, PRPS) 

NES Post-registration Foundation Programme for newly qualified pharmacists 

National Pharmacist Prescribing and GPCP training.  


What you'll bring 

You will be a qualified pharmacist with a keen interest in education and training (prescribing qualification desirable although not essential).  This provides an excellent opportunity for a pharmacist to expand their career experience particularly for those with an interest in education, workforce analysis and educational evaluation/research with workstreams at both regional and national level. As part of this secondment to NES you will become involved in teaching, educational developments, quality management initiatives, workforce development initiatives as well as educational evaluation/ research. 

Excellent communication skills and the ability to build and maintain highly effective relations internally and externally with a wide range of healthcare staff and stakeholders is key.  

The part-time nature of the post allows time to continue to develop your current skills in practice, while undertaking a tailored programme of training and experience in relation to pharmacy education.
