An exciting opportunity to lead the Glasgow Clinical Research Facility (G-CRF) team (around 100 personnel) in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.  As part of the Research and Innovation Department you will be based at the Glasgow Clinical Research (GCRF) Facilities at QEUH and GRI. G-CRF has two purpose-built, modern facilities – one at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital which is a joint adult and paediatric facility, and one at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. There are satellite units at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Gartnavel General Hospital and the Dental Hospital.

You will

  • Take the lead role in the R&I department G-CRF and the NRS Infrastructure Operational Groups in achieving the specific objectives as set forth by CSO and local strategy.
  • Manage the core G-CRF budget which is ~£2.4 million per annum and additional grant and project specific funding totalling approximately £1-2 million per annum. Funding is directly linked to G-CRF activity.
  • Deputise for the G-CRF Director as required, including attendance at local and national and international research meetings and liaison with the Scottish Government Health & Social Care Directorate Health Department, Chief Scientist Office (CSO), NHS Research Scotland(NRS) Central Management Team, Department of Health (DoH), Scottish Enterprise, UK CRF Network, and other external bodies.
  • Support the Glasgow Health Science Partnership in the development, implementation and regular review of the R&I strategy that identifies the G-CRF’s priorities and strategic goals, and sets out the structures and organisational plan to achieve these goals.
  • Ensure research supported by G-CRF staff across GG&C is conducted to a consistently high standard meeting regulatory and governance requirements.

You should be  Registrated with Nursing and Midwifery Council, or equivalent professional body, have a second level degree or first level degree with significant research experience, have strong knowledge of UK clinical research legal and regulatory environments, have a minimum of 10 years post registration research experience with enhanced responsibility in a senior post. Specialist knowledge of clinical research across a broad range of conditions and treatment modalities Have a good understanding of the service and education sectors and working within a multidisciplinary team and have knowledge of financial management.

The shift pattern for this position is 08.30 – 16:30 mon-fri (flexible)
