If the applicant require ongoing exposure to general medicine (e.g. leading acute medical receiving shifts) this can be incorporated within core hours to meet training requirements.

The respiratory service covers all subspecialty areas (airways, infection, pleural, cancer, interstitial lung disease).  The team consists of 6 Consultants, a team of specialist nurses (including 2 lung cancer), a pharmacist, 2 respiratory registrars, a clinical development fellow, 4 respiratory lab staff and two secretaries. There will be opportunity to undertake clinics (currently mixed, covering all subspecialty areas apart from Cystic Fibrosis), to perform bronchoscopy and develop supervised thoracic ultrasound and pleural intervention skills. Formally developing and logging thoracic ultrasound skills will be encouraged. Participation in the cancer and ILD MDTs will be encouraged, plus an active role in the department educational programme. There will also be opportunity to undertake a project and supervise and teach medical students. Involvement in IMT bootcamp facilitation and Scottish Simulation Centre activities is also likely to be available.
