Applications are invited for the posts of Consultant Ophthalmologists (bank posts paid at WLI session rates)
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Ophthalmology Service at NHSGJ, one of Scotland’s largest ophthalmic units, as it continues its expansion programme. NHS GJ is in the process of delivering an ambitious plan of growth, with significant investment in the expansion of elective services to support NHS Scotland and meet the predicted demand between now and 2035. In November 2020 we opened our new purpose built Eye Centre which will provide a 100% increase in pre-operative assessment capacity and 300% increase in theatre capacity.
The innovative design of the New Eye Centre was planned around a proven patient pathway supported by a multidisciplinary team including, specialist ophthalmology nurses, optometrists, 5.0wte consultants and a small group of visiting consultants. The outpatient clinic area can support 96 out-patient appointments per day in addition to the 6 ophthalmology operating theatres which are all co-located. The new unit includes bespoke self-check in and creative wayfinding strategy particularly designed to help the visually impaired and those with a disability visiting the unit.
We are able to offer sessions which are flexible to match the needs of both applicants and service.
Applicants must be registered with the General Medical Council, be listed on the Specialist Register (or be within 6 months of entry) and hold a FRCOphth or equivalent higher Surgical qualification, if from out with the UK.
