Edinburgh or Glasgow – remote working will apply for the foreseeable future.

Two exciting opportunities have arisen for highly experienced Senior Improvement Advisors to join the Improvement Hub (ihub) within Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS). The ihub provides support for the redesign and continuous improvement of Health and Social Care services. With an impressive range of improvement support programmes, we aspire to be at the leading edge of both thinking and practice in quality improvement. To find out more about our work please visit https://ihub.scot/

We are looking for individuals who are educated to degree level and either hold a master’s degree in a relevant subject or equivalent knowledge and have significant experience in improving services in health and social care or homeless services.

Housing, Homelessness and Healthcare Portfolio

We are looking for an experienced Senior Improvement Advisor to take up a critical role within the Housing, Homelessness and Healthcare Portfolio, part of the Transformational Redesign Unit, which supports the health and social care system to improve health outcomes for the people of Scotland.

Our Housing, Homelessness and Heathcare Portfolio occupies a unique space in the Health and Social Care system bringing together Housing, Health and Social Care across statutory, private and voluntary sectors. Our recent review identified opportunities to drive improvements in relation to strategic planning and Housing Contributions Statements alongside leading a national learning network for homeless leads across Housing and Health. The Senior Improvement Advisor will lead the scoping, design and delivery of these improvement programmes building robust measurement plans and evidencing impact.

Using quality improvement and redesign methodology, we will embed lived and living experience across the totality of these programmes evidencing the need for a credible and trauma informed Senior Improvement Advisor. This programme requires significant levels of collaborative working across Housing, Health and Social Care working within a multi-disciplinary team. It is therefore essential that applicants can evidence their experience in driving change, system improvement or redesign.

The successful candidate will be a motivated individual with a passion for improvement. This role will be a key operational role reporting directly to the Portfolio Lead.

Further information about the role is available from Ruth Robin, Portfolio Lead (ruth.robin@nhs.scot). Please note that Ruth won’t be available due to annual leave between 19th and 30th July 2021.

Quality Management System Portfolio

We are looking for an experienced Senior Improvement Advisor to take up a critical role within the Quality Management System (QMS) Portfolio within the ihub.

This role will provide support for Health and Social Care services to redesign and continually improve. Our portfolio aims to advance thinking in quality management and generate support for innovative quality improvement concepts via an extensive range of improvement support programmes and collaborations with local, national and international networks.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience of applying a range of improvement methods within different contexts and with a wide range of stakeholders. Ideally you will have experience of applying quality management principles in your work, although this is not essential.

The QMS Senior Improvement Advisor will report directly to the Portfolio Lead and will lead the scoping, design and delivery of a range of quality infrastructure improvement programmes. These will include:

 · Supporting organisations to create the conditions to reliably deliver high quality care across Scotland,

· Implementation of the HIS Quality Management System – http://www.healthcareimprovementscotland.org/improvement/quality_management_system.aspx, and

· Working with partners to learn with and from each other about effective interventions that may be implemented more widely through efficient learning systems – https://ihub.scot/improvement-programmes/quality-management-system-portfolio/learning-systems/ .

Further information about the role is available from Michael Canavan, Portfolio Lead (michael.canavan@nhs.scot). Please note that Michael won’t be available due to annual leave between 9th and 20th August 2021.

Closing date: Monday 2 August 2021 at midnight

It is anticipated that interviews will be held virtually on MS Teams on 23 – 25 August 2021
