Department: SIGN

An opportunity has arisen to join the Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN) within Healthcare Improvement Scotland. SIGN collaborates with a network of clinicians, other health and social care professionals, patient organisations and individuals to develop national evidence-based guidelines and patient booklets for Scotland. To find out more about our work please visit www.sign.ac.uk

As a project officer you will support the SIGN Programme Managers and Patient and Public Involvement Advisor to facilitate development groups, operationally managing the projects by planning and arranging meetings to agreed timescales and working to milestones in the SIGN guideline development process. You will participate in guideline development group and patient reference group meetings, including the preparation of agendas and Chair’s notes, overseeing the collation and distribution of papers, taking accurate minutes of meetings and ensuring timely follow up of any outstanding actions. You will share responsibility for keeping the SIGN website current and publishing new material when required.

Within SIGN you will be required to work in a fast paced environment, managing competing priorities and working across different projects, liaising cross-organisationally where appropriate. During the COVID-19 pandemic, SIGN is supporting the development of rapid advice on behalf of the Chief Medical Officer’s Clinical Guidance Cell and Scottish Government’s Community Testing programme and you may be involved in project support for these and other emerging priorities.

The ability to work on your own initiative, organise, manage and prioritise a busy work schedule and demonstrate attention to detail is essential. Educated to degree level (and/or with equivalent experience in a similar project support role), you will have demonstrable report writing skills, experience of event organisation, together with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You should also have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages. Familiarity with the Umbraco content management system is an advantage.

This is an excellent opportunity to be involved in a national programme that has a direct impact on delivery of care and outcomes for individuals across Scotland.
