FIXED TERM CLINICAL FELLOW
Perth Royal Infirmary
Fixed Term For 1 Year
MEDICINE FOR THE ELDERLY
Applications are invited for one Fixed Term Clinical Fellow to join the Medicine for the Elderly Teams Perth and Kinross, starting 4 August 2021 or as per agreement.
The Medicine for the Elderly service based at Perth Royal Infirmary is undergoing a period of change and innovation. At present the Medicine for the Elderly unit provides a comprehensive service to older in-patients at Perth Royal including an acute frailty team, acute MFE wards, orthogeriatric service and a rehab unit. The two major community hospitals are under the care of MFTE and our clinical fellows rotate through the different clinical areas. The candidate is therefore required to be able to drive for this role.
Out-patient care of the older population is delivered through a rapid assessment and falls service and Parkinson’s clinic with the ambition to extend working in the communities. The Stroke service is closely aligned to Medicine for the Elderly with TIA clinics, and ongoing inpatient assessment and management.
Medicine for the Elderly is Tayside’s largest employer of Clinical Fellows and Speciality Doctors, and our team have a reputation for providing opportunities and career development. A clinical fellow post can also be the stepping stone to a Speciality Doctor post for doctors without enough experience.
The post is ideal for doctors looking for time away from training or a non-training career, where development, training and opportunities provided by these posts have many positives. The candidate can work fulltime or part time. Weekend and evening working is available, as is out of hours. These are optional
For informal enquiries please contact: Dr Dirk Habicht, Medicine for the Elderly, 01382 660111, Bleep 5248 or email: dirk.habicht@nhs.scot. If unavailable please contact Dr Donna Clark, Medicine for the Elderly, 01382 660111 #5278 or e-mail: donna.clark3@nhs.scot.
Closing Date 12 August 2021, however, we are looking to appoint to these posts at the earliest opportunity and would therefore encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible, interviews will be held as and when candidates apply.
