This is an exciting new joint post between the Area Drug and Therapeutic Committee Collaborative (ADTCC) and the National Cancer Medicines Advisory Group (NCMAG). The post-holder will support both programmes to achieve their key deliverables as agreed with Scottish Government and will be the key driver for assigned pieces of work. Both of these programmes focus on improving national consistency, reducing clinical variation, improving efficiency through a ‘Once for Scotland’ approach and supporting shared decision making. The post-holder will lead the collaboration on, and development of, national advice and guidance documents, for example national advice on the use of off-label cancer medicines and national operational guidance to support the use of medicines through MHRA Early Access to Medicines Schemes.

The NCMAG programme is intended to work alongside Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) and existing local systems for access to cancer medicines. The work programme will be driven by clinical need in consultation with SGHD National Cancer Recovery Group and stakeholders across NHS Scotland.

We are seeking an experienced clinical pharmacist with excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a multidisciplinary environment, with clinical and nonclinical staff including with Health Service Researchers and Health Economists. You should have highly developed critical evaluation and analytical skills, excellent oral and written presentation skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues to strict deadlines. The post-holder will lead critical reviews and appraisals of clinical studies and establish robust and consistent methods and processes to support the delivery of the programme.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable understanding of health technology appraisal, in depth knowledge of medicines legislation and NHS Scotland medicines governance policy and processes. The candidate must be able demonstrate the ability to prioritise work and work well within teams against a background of change and uncertainty, and be self-motivated, proactive, and innovative.
